GENERAL EDUCATION PROGRAM AT GVSU PARTNERS WITH CHALK & WIRE TO DEVELOP ENHANCED STUDENT TRACKING AND REPORTING SYSTEM
Grand Valley State University (GVSU) in Michigan provides students with a broad range of educational opportunities through its highly evolved General Education Program that is rooted in the arts and sciences. All students at GVSU are required to complete 13 general education courses as part of their bachelor degree requirements. Through this program, GVSU students are expected to develop their skills in critical thinking, speaking, writing, information literacy, and more. As noted on its website, the program is recognized for the breadth, depth and coherency of its courses, the quality of its teaching and learning, and its commitment to continuous improvement. An important part of that continuous improvement process entails tracking the progress of students enrolled in GVSU’s 300 general education courses, each with five to six learning goals. Add to that a student population of 24,000, and any such tracking exercise becomes a daunting task, requiring the efficient collection, organization and analysis of vast amounts of data. MORE
