SPECIAL REPORT: INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY GOVERNANCE IN HIGHER EDUCATION
The Summer/Fall 2008 issue of Educational Pathways features an informative 5,000-word report on Information Technology Governance (ITG) in higher education. The report was generated through a special assignment Editor and Publisher George Lorenzo had this past Spring in which he interviewed IT professionals from the EDUCAUSE Center for Applied Research, Colorado State University, the University of Virginia, Princeton, the University of Cincinnati, the University of Texas Austin, UCLA, and Griffith University in Australia. The report begins with a general definition and review of the pertinent issues and challenges facing ITG leaders today. It then moves into more depth, touching on such major issues as security and privacy, ubiquitous computing, the commoditization of IT, how ITG has become reoriented, the cyberinfrastructure, customer relationship management, and communication and organizational management concerns.
