STORY OF A FOR-PROFT
To get a sense of how dramatically Capella University has grown in recent years, one needs only to consider that in 1999 this virtual institution, geared specifically for adult working professionals, had about 600 matriculated "learners" (students are called learners by all Capella employees), and today, at press time, it has more than 8,000 matriculated learners. CAPELLA'S INFRASTRUCTURE
The basic organizational structure of Capella University’s 379-member operational, leadership and services staff (about three years ago it was a 75-member staff) is comprised of five primary departments, listed below. MORE

An important project at Capella is the on-going development of its home-grown student portal called "iGuide," which was launched in March of last year. MORE

CONSTRUCTING COMPETENCY-BASED LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS
Another key instructional methodology and strategy at Capella is keenly focused on ultimately converting every course (currently about 600) to support and maintain what’s commonly known as "competency-based" or "outcomes-based" learning. MORE

REVAMPED MBA PROGRAM INTRODUCES PROFESSIONAL EFFECTIVENESS CORE
When Capella launched its newly revamped online MBA program in October of last year, it introduced a unique component to the program called the "professional effectiveness" core. Its development was based on a market study conducted in 2001 of 37 companies from across the country. MORE
