THE DIGITAL OPTIMIST
The Spring-Summer 2009 issue of Educational Pathways features a “Digital Optimist” column by Editor and Publisher George Lorenzo. The column starts out with a brief message about job and/or client searching strategies. Next is a review/synopsis of Curtis Bonk’s new book, “The World is Open.”  Bonk’s book is an amazing journey through the trends and initiatives that are driving today’s freely accessible education learning tools, resources and methods. George also takes a look inside the relatively new 2009 Horizon Report , featuring an overview of some of the latest and greatest teaching, learning, research and creative expression technologies. The column closes with a note about the negative side effects of our overly digitized world, as George tries to come up with a solution that might get him offline a bit more and out from information overload.
