UT TELECAMPUS COST STUDY COMPARES DELIVERY COSTS OF ONLINE
EDUCATION TO TRADITIONAL FACE-T0-FACE EDUCATION
In early 2002, when the Board of Regents of the University
of Texas (UT) System asked the virtual campus of the System
- the UT TeleCampus - about the cost effectiveness of online
education compared to traditional education, the UT
TeleCampus decided that the easiest place to start such a
cost analysis was to compare delivery costs as opposed to
developmental costs.

DEVELOPMENTAL COST COMPARISON SLATED FOR SUMMER '05
Associate Director of the UT TeleCampus Rob Robinson's
delivery cost comparison of online and face-to-face courses
has resulted in plans for a second initiative, to compare
developmental costs, that is slated to begin this summer and
take approximately six months to complete.
