TAKE THIS TEST PLEASE

Before any student enters the University of North Texas (UNT) School of Library and Information Sciences (SLIS) master’s degree program, he or she is asked to take an online assessment that covers their computer competency and information technology intelligence levels via an Information Technology Knowledge and Skills (ITKS) Diagnostic Tool.

The diagnostic tool provides separate online assessments on the following groups: basic computer knowledge and skills, word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, Internet, and Web development.

According to the ITKS Web site, "the recommended standard score of 75% in each of these groups demonstrates satisfactory readiness. Students who do not score at the 75% level should take remedial action to meet the entry-level requirements."

Anyone can ultimately find out whether or not they are candidates for "remedial action" and test their computer and information technology know-how by visiting the diagnostic tool Web site.
